Most men with pearly penile papules fear that they have herpes. Once again, this is a fallacy. Contrary to popular belief, PPP is not dangerous but genital herpes is.
This infection is also an STD caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) or type 2 (HSV-2). It is quite tricky because it shows minimal symptoms or no signs at all. But when they do appear, they could be found around the genital or the rectum area.
These are blisters that leave horrid sores which would approximately take two to four weeks on their first appearance. The sores symptom is occasionally accompanied by flu-like symptoms such as fever and swollen glands.
After some weeks or months, a second outbreak will occur that is less severe and appear shorter. As time passes, this will continue on and even though the number of outbreaks diminishes, herpes is there to stay in one's body indefinitely.
The HSV-1 can cause genital herpes however, it often infects the mouth and the lips and this is called "fever blisters".
Herpes can also be a reason for the Human immunodeficiency virus or HIV. If herpes allows people to be susceptible to HIV, then this could lead to further infections which may become AIDS complications.
Again, since this is a form of the sexually transmitted disease, there is no cure for Herpes. Only antiviral medications are there to prevent and shorten the outbreaks and this does not guarantee total recovery. Daily suppressive therapy for symptomatic herpes is also offered to help reduce transmission to partners.
It is quite disheartening what herpes can cause to the body. Aren't you just glad that its symptoms and effects are not included in PPP?
